Humasis HCV Test

What is HCV?
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major cause of acute hepatitis and is widespread among injecting drug users, with up to 90% being positive for antibodies to HCV. HCV infection progresses with an indolent course and remains benign in the first few years, but the majority (>50%) of HCV-infected individuals eventually develop chronic HCV infection. HCV was first reported in 1989. It is now known that HCV is an enveloped virus that contains a positive single-stranded RNA genome of about 9400 nucleotides. Antibodies to HCV is found in most patients who are infected with the virus.
